Rob Dow
Head Coach
Rob Dow is the owner and operator of Vermont Futbol Academy and the head coach of the University of Vermont men’s soccer team. Dow is the program’s all-time leader in NCAA Tournament wins. Entering his eighth season in 2024, he led the Catamounts to their first-ever national championship, a No. 1 national ranking, and an America East conference championship title. Rob and his coaching staff were recognized as the United Soccer Coaches Association D1 staff of the year and America East Conference coaching staff of the year in 2024. Since taking over in 2017, Dow has compiled a 95-40 record, with a winning season each year and six top-two conference finishes.
Before Vermont, Dow coached at Southern New Hampshire University, where he helped guide the team to multiple NCAA Tournament runs and a 59-14-13 record. He also held coaching roles at Dean College, Mayville State, and the University of Maine, his alma mater. As a player, he competed professionally with the Ottawa Wizards and New Hampshire Phantoms.
Dow holds degrees from the University of Maine and North Dakota State University. Dow is active in Vermont youth soccer and coaches a local U10 boys team. He lives in Burlington with his wife, Loren, and their two sons, Hanson and Russel.
Brad Cole
Associate Head Coach
Brad Cole enters his 3rd season as Associate Head Coach of the UVM Men’s soccer team and also returns to the coaching staff of Vermont Futbol Academy. Cole is known for his strengths in recruitment, player development, and team management. He played a key role in building top-ranked recruiting classes and winning the 2024 Men’s Soccer National Championship.
As Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator at the University of Portland, Cole helped guide the team to its best season in decades—reaching the NCAA Elite Eight and finishing undefeated at home. His 2023 recruiting class ranked No. 2 nationally (Top Drawer Soccer), featuring seven top-100 players and Canada’s No. 2 prospect.
Previously, at Cornell University, Cole helped secure a top-25 national recruiting class and coached the team to its best season since 2012. His work on set pieces contributed to the team’s offensive and defensive success, and standout player Tyler Bagley went on to be drafted by Inter Miami FC.
Cole also spent four years on staff at his alma mater, the University of Vermont, contributing to two regular season titles and an America East championship. He coached two future MLS draftees and multiple award-winning players.
A former Catamount himself, Cole played from 2010–2014 and captained the team as a senior. He also played semi-professionally in Wales and held a coaching internship with Crewe Alexandra FC in England.
A native of South Hero, VT, Cole began his coaching career with Far Post Soccer Club in Burlington.
Rory Twomey
Assistant Coach
Rory Twomey rejoined the Vermont men’s soccer and Vermont Futbol Academy staff as Assistant Coach in the summer of 2023 after a successful season at St. Lawrence, where the team won the Liberty League title and reached the NCAA Division III Second Round.
Twomey previously spent two seasons with the Catamounts (2020–2021), helping the team to an America East Championship and 18-7-2 overall record. He served as Director of Operations before being promoted to Assistant Coach, contributing to recruiting, scouting, and team logistics.
A 2019 graduate of Saint Joseph's College of Maine, Twomey was a four-year starter, three-time All-GNAC honoree, and team captain. He helped lead the Monks to three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Loren Dow
Assistant Coach/Administrator
Loren Dow is an experienced higher education administrator and educator, currently serving as an Undergraduate Dean of students at Dartmouth College. She previously held the role of Associate Director of Academic Services on the Student-Athlete Development team at the University of Vermont (UVM).
Before transitioning to higher education, Loren was an English teacher and varsity girls’ lacrosse coach at Spaulding High School in Barre, Vermont. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in reading and language from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Loren earned her Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from UVM in 2020. She is also a certified English teacher.
Loren is a Catamount fan and a proud mom of two boys—one active in soccer, hockey, and baseball, and a little one who loves cheering on his big brother!
